If you have had a bit of a heavy week and need a boost for your morning, this is just the thing!
This smoothie is packed full of ingredients that will help hydrate and promote detoxification of the body.
Coconut water is full of electrolytes which can help to reduce fatigue, help with rehydration as well as muscle relaxation, and of course this is needed after all of that dancing you’ve been doing!
I have blended the coconut water with beetroot which contains glutathione along with a handful of strawberries. The glutathione within beetroot supports detoxification of the body (Pizzorno, 2014) and the antioxidant compounds within strawberries are also vital to detoxify. We need antioxidants in the detoxification process in order to eliminate the harmful free radicals that can cause damage to cells and lead to chronic disease (Giampieri et al. 2015).
Last but not least this smoothie is finished off with a spoonful of honey and 2 tbsp of hemp seeds. Hemp seeds have a high nutritional profile and provide a rich source of amino acids (Callaway, 2004).
This smoothie is also great for energy, as beetroot is high in iron and when paired with vitamin C (abundant in strawberries) this enhances iron absorption. What a great combination!

“Recovery is not a race; you don’t have to feel guilty if it takes you longer than you thought it would” Something I often tell clients is that recovery is not a race. Placing high expectations to get well quickly is like forcing the sun to shine; these things are simply out of our control....
