Say hello to my little cuties! And I thought ghosts where supposed to be scary! Bringing it back to basics with this super simple sweet dish. A great healthier alternative for a Halloween dessert and a fun way to get your kids to eat more fruit!
Ingredients
4 pears
1 lemon
3 tbsp maple syrup
2 pints filtered water
1 cinnamon stick
100g raspberries (optional, for the base)
To Decorate:
4 raisins
Method
Grate the zest of the lemon into a sauce pan.
Now cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the saucepan, adding the water, maple syrup and cinnamon stick. Bring to a gentle boil.
Slice the bases of the pears off so that they stand up right. Peel the pears and put them into the saucepan and allow to simmer with a lid on for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, place the raspberries into a bowl and mash with a fork.
Place a tablespoon of the mashed raspberries onto each plate in a circular shape.
Once 20 minutes have passed and the pears are soft, gently remove them from the saucepan and allow to cool slightly for 5 minutes. Keep the flavoured water in the saucepan aside.
Cut the 4 raisins in half. Whilst the pears are still warm, using a skewer, make two small holes in the appropriate place in each pear for the ghost eyes. Push a raisin into each hole.
Place each pear upright onto the raspberry base.
Using a tablespoon, pour the lemon syrup from the saucepan over the top of the pears. Enjoy!
