We are always huge fans of putting vegetables into our juices or smoothies and this recipe is no different!
We are in love with this juice for its great taste and detoxifying benefits.
Beetroots contain a compound called glutathione. Our bodies naturally produce glutathione but as we get older our production of glutathione starts to decrease and for many of those who suffer with chronic illnesses, glutathione production can be a lot less than the average person.
Therefore it is important to consume foods that contain glutathione to boost up our levels! This is because glutathione supports detoxification of the body (Pizzorno, 2014) and helps to cleanse itself of heavy metals and toxins which we are constantly exposed to through our environment and lifestyle.
This juice provides the following beet benefits:
Increases energy levels & performance
Anti-inflammatory
Helps with digestion
High in antioxidants
Lowers blood pressure
Anti-ageing
Helps to detox the body of toxins
(Clifford, et al.) (Bahadoran, et al.) (Domínguez, et al.)
So let’s get blending!
Ingredients
1 beetroot (if raw, then ensure you have cooked and peeled it)
1 apple (chopped and cored)
1 stick of celery
1 small handful of spinach
1 1/2 cups coconut water (300ml)
Method
Place all ingredients into a blender and blitz for a few minutes.
After a few minutes in the blender, your juice is ready to drink straight away. If you prefer it with a smoother texture, simply sieve out the foam.
